Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician

Due to continued growth and a strategy to grow significantly over the next three to five years, our client is searching for a motivated Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician to support activities across major environmental and infrastructure projects.

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, you will install, maintain, and decommission a range of monitoring instruments used to assess ground conditions, structural behaviour and other key infrastructural parameters.

You will operate on various worksites across the South East region, particularly on large public works monitoring programmes. After receiving full training on our client's equipment, systems and digital platforms, you will be responsible for deploying their dedicated monitoring solutions on rail, construction and infrastructure sites.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys field work, has strong practical and problem-solving skills, and is eager to utilise their experience gained to now work with modern IoT monitoring technologies. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the instrumentation and monitoring system sector.

The Role

  • Prepare materials, equipment, and documentation required for environmental instrumentation installations.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and method statements prior to mobilisation.
  • Install and uninstall various monitoring equipment such as groundwater sensors, vibration and noise monitors, air quality devices, and settlement or movement sensors.
  • Install, configure and commission data loggers, telemetry units and remote monitoring solutions.
  • Maintain accurate installation records, ITPs, and site reports.
  • Supervise sub-contractors when monitoring activities are outsourced.
  • Take manual readings and perform verification checks on instruments.
  • Provide technical support for monitoring systems during operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and installations, sometimes at height and in confined spaces.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
