WillU Group is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Insurance Account Executive to join our growing team.

The opportunity

This is an important client-facing role for an experienced commercial insurance professional who combines strong technical knowledge with relationship management skills and a commercial mindset. The successful candidate will manage an established portfolio of mid-market commercial clients, support renewals and market presentations, and help drive new business growth across WillU Insure. This role is ideally suited to someone with experience in commercial broking who is now looking to take ownership of client relationships, contribute to a growing division and be part of the wider WillU Group’s next phase of development.

Role overview

  • Location: Hybrid
  • Reporting to: Senior management / WillU Insure leadership team
  • Salary: Competitive salary of £30,000 - £50,000 depending on experience, plus generous bonus structure

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop an established portfolio of mid-market commercial clients across a range of sectors.
  • Provide technically sound commercial insurance advice and support clients through renewals, reviews and new business opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, insurers, introducers and colleagues across the wider WillU Group.
  • Drive new business activity through referrals, networking, marketing activity and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Maintain high advice, service and compliance standards in line with FCA requirements and internal procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of an existing book of mid-market commercial clients across a range of industry sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular contact, renewals, mid-term reviews, and strategic account development.
  • Conduct detailed fact-finds to understand client operations, exposures, and insurance requirements.
  • Prepare and present renewal strategies, market submissions, and insurance programme recommendations.
  • Ensure all client documentation is accurate, compliant, and delivered in a timely manner.

Broking & technical work

  • Liaise with insurers to negotiate competitive terms, cover enhancements, and risk management solutions.
  • Analyse policy wordings, endorsements, and schedules to ensure appropriate coverage is in place.
  • Support claims handling and advocate for clients to achieve fair and timely outcomes.
  • Stay informed on market trends, product developments, and regulatory changes.

New business development

  • Identify and pursue new business leads through networking, referrals, marketing activity, and cross-selling to existing clients.
  • Prepare new business proposals and deliver compelling presentations to prospects.
  • Meet agreed new business and retention targets in line with company objectives.

Professional Partnerships

  • Develop referral relationships with professional introducers, existing clients and wider Group businesses.
  • Identify opportunities to support SMEs and business owners through appropriate commercial and general insurance solutions.
  • Represent WillU Insure professionally in external meetings, networking conversations and client presentations.

Compliance & administration

  • Maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with FCA requirements and internal procedures.
  • Adhere to all compliance, conduct risk, and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the team and wider business.

Experience and qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years commercial insurance experience, with at least 3 years as an Account Executive or Senior Account Handler.
  • Strong understanding of mid-market commercial insurance products and the broking lifecycle.
  • Proven track record in managing client relationships and delivering high service standards.
  • Confident negotiator with insurers and clients.
  • Ability to generate and convert new business opportunities.
  • Cert CII / Dip CII (or working towards) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Managing and retaining a high-quality portfolio of commercial insurance clients.
  • Developing strong client relationships that lead to repeat business, referrals and wider Group opportunities.
  • Contributing to new business growth across WillU Insure.
  • Maintaining excellent service, documentation and compliance standards.
  • Becoming a trusted commercial insurance contact for clients, insurers and colleagues across the WillU Group.
