Insurance and Claims Assistant Opportunity

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Corporate Insurance Team as an Insurance and Claims Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in a varied role, managing a range of insurance claims and supporting the Council's wider insurance activities.

Working within a supportive and professional team, you'll investigate claims, protect the Council's interests and provide excellent service to claimants and stakeholders. You'll also undertake a range of insurance and administrative duties that support the effective delivery of the Council's insurance programme.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing a caseload of public liability claims, including highways-related property damage claims, together with other low value liability claims. Assistance with motor and own property damage claims.
  • Investigating claims by reviewing records, maintenance information, incident reports and other relevant evidence.
  • Assessing liability and preparing recommendations in line with Council procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Liaising with claimants, solicitors, insurers, contractors and Council services.
  • Drafting correspondence and responding to enquiries.
  • Supporting the administration of the Council's insurance programme, including providing advice and maintaining records.
  • Processing claims payments and recoveries.
  • Providing general administrative support to the Insurance Team.

We're looking for an organised and customer-focused individual with experience in claims handling, insurance, administration, customer services, business support or a similar environment.

You'll have strong communication and organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to analyse information and make sound decisions. You'll also be comfortable managing a varied workload and working with a wide range of stakeholders.
