Job Title: IBA Technician (Insurance Broking Accounts)
Reports To: Head of UMT
Location: UK Head Office
Department: Underwriting Management Team IBA & Operations
Role purpose
The IBA Technician is a key member of our operations team, responsible for the accurate and timely processing of insurance business administration on behalf of our capacity providers and distribution partners. Working closely with underwriters, brokers and finance, you will ensure policies, endorsements and bordereaux are processed correctly, data is of high quality, and our delegated authority obligations are met.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, validate and submit premium bordereaux to capacity providers in line with binding authority requirements.
- Carry out data quality checks and reconcile policy, premium and transaction data across the policy administration system and finance records.
- Support credit control and finance by allocating premiums, chasing outstanding items and resolving queries on broker and client accounts.
- Act as the first point of contact for brokers and internal teams on UMT technical administration queries, escalating complex or referral cases to underwriters.
- Contribute to process improvements, system testing and documentation of procedures.
- Support month-end and quarter-end reporting and assist with management information requests.

Skills and experience
- Previous experience in insurance administration, underwriting support or technical processing, ideally within an MGA, broker or London Market environment.
- Working knowledge of delegated authority, binder and bordereaux processes.
- Understanding of insurance products, premium calculations, taxes (including IPT) and policy lifecycle.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivot tables) and experience with a policy administration or broking system.
- Strong numeracy and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to spot and resolve data discrepancies.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with a professional approach to dealing with brokers and partners.

Qualifications
- Minimum five GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
- CII Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) or willingness to work towards it; further CII study supported.
