INSURANCE BUSINESS ANALYST - AI / PROCESS AUTOMATION - UMBRELLA
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our growing team and play a key role in driving transformation across our insurance business. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded BA with a strong insurance background, combined with expertise in AI initiatives, process automation, and digital transformation.
Working closely with Underwriting, Operations, Technology, and Change teams, you will identify opportunities to optimise processes, enhance customer and underwriter experiences, and leverage emerging technologies to deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with underwriting, operations, and technology stakeholders to understand business challenges and define effective solutions.
- Analyse and document current and future-state business processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve underwriting efficiency through automation, AI and workflow optimisation.
- Lead requirements gathering workshops and produce high-quality business analysis artefacts including user stories, process maps, business requirements, and functional specifications.
- Support the implementation of AI-driven solutions, including underwriting decision support, document processing, and data analytics initiatives.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design and implement process automation solutions.
- Conduct impact assessments, gap analyses, and business readiness activities.
- Support testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and change adoption activities.
- Track benefits realisation and ensure delivered solutions meet business objectives.

- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within the Insurance sector.
- Strong understanding of Underwriting processes, workflows, and insurance operations.
- Experience delivering business and technology transformation projects.
- Demonstrable experience in process improvement and process automation initiatives.
- Knowledge of AI use cases within insurance, underwriting, claims, or operational functions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage senior business leaders and technical teams.
- Excellent requirements elicitation, documentation, and process mapping capabilities.
- Experience working within Agile and/or Waterfall delivery environments.
