Job Opportunity: Insurance Officer

Role Overview
As an Insurance Officer, you will help deliver insurance, claims, and risk management services across a partnership of local authorities and maintained schools. Working with insurers, brokers, council services, and external stakeholders, you will provide professional advice, manage a varied caseload of claims and insurance matters, and help ensure appropriate protection for public assets and services. This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist expertise, build influential relationships, and make a tangible difference by supporting organizations that serve local communities every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver insurance, claims, and risk management services across a partnership of local authorities and maintained schools.
- Work with insurers, brokers, council services, and external stakeholders.
- Provide professional advice and manage a varied caseload of claims and insurance matters.
- Ensure appropriate protection for public assets and services.
Requirements
- Experience of working in an insurance-related environment, including claims handling and insurance policy management.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and confidently, building effective relationships with customers, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and present information in a clear and accessible way.
- Organized and self-motivated, able to manage a varied workload, prioritize competing demands, and work to tight deadlines.
- Collaborative and customer-focused approach, working positively as part of a team while showing initiative, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering excellent service.

The role will offer hybrid working, with some time in the office at County Hall, the Head Office for the County Council. It is based on the edge of Lewes Town Centre, which is within walking distance to the town and train station. County Hall is also on a bus route, and car parking is available on site at a reduced rate for employees. On occasions, you may be required to attend Brighton & Hove City Councils offices in Hove or Surrey County Councils in Reigate.
