Insurance / Reinsurance Lawyer – Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands market is experiencing strong, sustained, and accelerating expansion in its insurance sector. Capitalising on its world leading position as a hub for captives and its rapidly expanding prominence as a centre of excellence in reinsurance, its growth is delivering more companies/structures, greater assets, and increasing premiums.

This elite offshore law firm is perfectly placed to advise on the full range of work spanning formation, operation, and regulation of captive insurers and reinsurers. It is seeking to capitalise on growth in the market through the addition of two experienced insurance/reinsurance lawyers, one at Associate level (5 years’+ PQE) and one at Counsel level (likely to have at least 8 or 9 years’ PQE). Qualified in the UK (or equivalent Commonwealth jurisdiction) or the Cayman Islands, you will demonstrate high-level experience gained with a leading commercial law firm in this sector.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
