About the Role
Our Software Engineering team develops bespoke capabilities for clients in the Cyber Security domain. We may be building assured products that prioritise engineering rigour and reliability, rapid solutions that bring together existing tooling for high-impact results, or blended operational systems that combine software, hardware, networks, and third-party technologies to address real-world challenges in the field.
Common to all is a commitment to technically led decisions, meaningful technical challenge, and seeing our work make it off the shelf and into the hands of our customers.
We're looking for Integration and Test Engineers who enjoy the point where design, software, hardware, and networks meet. Rather than concentrating on developing a single component, you will be responsible for bringing components together into complete working systems, understanding why they do — or occasionally don't — behave as expected, and producing the evidence needed to demonstrate that the resulting capability works in representative and operational environments.
Our systems may combine bespoke applications, Linux or Android devices, networks, infrastructure, commercial products, open-source tooling, specialist hardware, and communications equipment. You should enjoy getting hands-on with unfamiliar technologies, understanding their interfaces and constraints, automating away repetitive work, and methodically isolating problems that span several components.
This role sits between systems engineering and software engineering. You are likely to write Python or Bash, build test tooling, configure networks, automate deployments, and investigate source code, but bespoke application development is not the primary objective. Your focus is making the complete system work reliably.
We're led by engineers and empowered to optimise our lightweight engineering processes with the knowledge gained from each project. We want repeatable integration and test where it provides value, while retaining the ability to move quickly when developing new capabilities.
We are ideally looking for candidates who hold an active Security Clearance to join our team; however, we will consider sponsoring new clearances for candidates who meet our technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
As part of our team, you may be:
- Bringing together software, hardware, networks, infrastructure, and third-party technologies into complete working systems.
- Developing integration approaches, representative test environments, deployment automation, and supporting tooling.
- Designing and executing system-level tests covering functional behaviour, performance, resilience, and failure handling.
- Investigating complex failures across software, operating systems, networks, configuration, and hardware, and working with engineers to resolve root causes.
- Supporting demonstrations, trials, deployments, and customer acceptance while feeding integration findings back into system design and interfaces.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
For this role, you will be hands-on in the day-to-day delivery of projects. Typically, this will see you working closely with a small number of engineers and taking ownership of getting a complete capability from individually working components to a dependable integrated system.
Desirable Skills
Successful candidates will have strong experience in a subsection of the following areas:
- Hands-on experience integrating and troubleshooting complex systems involving multiple technologies or components.
- Strong Linux, scripting, and automation skills using technologies such as Python, Bash, or similar.
- Good networking fundamentals and experience diagnosing networked systems using logging, packet capture, or protocol-analysis tools.
- Experience with integration or system testing, test automation, CI/CD, containers, virtualisation, or configuration-management tooling.
- Strong fault-isolation and root-cause analysis skills, with confidence working across software, hardware, infrastructure, and third-party components.
Experience with Android, embedded Linux, specialist hardware, RF, telecommunications systems, or operational deployment environments would be useful for some of our projects, but not essential. You don't need to be an expert developer, network engineer, and hardware engineer simultaneously. We are looking for technically curious engineers with strong fundamentals who are comfortable crossing those boundaries when solving a problem.
This vacancy is for experienced engineers who get satisfaction from taking a collection of individually capable technologies and turning them into a reliable, repeatable, tested system that works outside the lab.
