Integration & Automation Engineer

The Integration & Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, building, supporting and continually improving the integrations, automations and data movement that connect United Response’s core technology platforms. Working within the Microsoft stack and aligned to the organisation’s target architecture, the role will ensure that data flows reliably, securely and in a supportable way between line-of-business systems, operational processes and the central data platform.

The role will play a key part in priority programmes, including the integration and data work needed to support digital rostering and its related upstream and downstream processes. The post holder will own the practical delivery of APIs, ETL and ELT pipelines, automations and transformation logic, ensuring that solutions are well designed, documented, monitored and operationally manageable in partnership with internal teams and external specialists such as Forge.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical judgement, autonomy and a focus on value. The post holder will collaborate extensively with the Head of Digital, Data and Architecture, the Business Intelligence Manager, project teams and third parties to translate requirements into robust technical solutions, represent the team on projects, and identify further opportunities to simplify processes, improve data quality and reduce manual effort over time.

Although highly technical in nature, extensive business engagement and real-time collaboration will be required to be successful in this role.

Our vision is a society where everyone has equal access to the same rights and opportunities. Our mission is to ensure that people with learning disabilities, mental and physical support needs have the opportunity to live their lives to the full.

To achieve the above, we need you to live our values and be:

  • Connected
  • Empowered
  • Driven
  • Bold

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, deploy and support integrations, automations and data pipelines across core business systems, using Microsoft technologies and appropriate tooling.
  • Own the day-to-day technical delivery of integration and data flow components required to support priority platforms and processes, including digital rostering and associated dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain ETL and ELT pipelines, transformation logic and validation rules to ingest, map and move data between source systems and the central data platform.
  • Build and maintain API-based, file-based and workflow-based integrations across COTS products, ensuring solutions are secure, reliable, supportable and proportionate to the value being delivered.
  • Work within agreed architecture principles and patterns for integration, automation, master and reference data, metadata, and bronze, silver and gold data layers.
  • Use Microsoft technologies such as Fabric, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, SQL and related services to implement pragmatic, supportable solutions.
  • Work closely with Forge and other partners to ensure solutions align to the target architecture, are properly documented, and can be transitioned into ongoing operational management where appropriate.
  • Monitor integration health, investigate failures, troubleshoot data issues and put in place robust logging, alerting and recovery arrangements.
  • Collaborate with BI, applications, service and project colleagues to understand business needs, define technical approaches and deliver continuous improvement with clear operational value.
  • Maintain technical documentation, data mappings, interface specifications, support procedures and change records for the solutions owned by the role.
  • Represent the Digital, Data and Architecture team in project workstreams, design discussions and supplier forums relating to integration, automation and data movement.
  • Identify opportunities to remove manual handling, improve data quality, simplify system interactions and increase reuse of common patterns and components.
  • Ensure data handling meets security, governance and compliance requirements, including appropriate use of access controls, data lineage and metadata management.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
