Integration & Automation Engineer – Incident Response Tooling
Location: London (Hybrid) – 2 days per week, 3 month contract, ASAP start
I'm working with a leading UK AI company looking for a hands-on Integration & Automation Engineer to help build the technology underpinning its operational incident-response processes.
As the business expands its operations internationally, it needs to ensure that incidents are captured, classified, routed, escalated and reported through reliable, automated workflows.
This is not a traditional Incident Manager role. It's a technical engineering position focused on connecting systems, automating operational processes and making sure business-critical incident workflows function reliably.
What you'll be doing
- Building and improving incident-response workflows across Incident.io, Jira, Slack and connected operational systems.
- Developing integrations using REST APIs, webhooks and automation.
- Configuring incident routing, escalation logic, notifications and workflow rules.
- Translating operational process maps into working technical solutions.
- Automating processes based on incident severity, location and operational requirements.
- Implementing monitoring, error handling, testing and auditability across integrations.
- Working closely with Safety, Engineering and operational teams to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We're open to engineers from SRE, Platform Engineering, Systems Integration, ITSM Development and Automation backgrounds, provided you've personally built or configured the underlying systems rather than simply operated within an incident-management process.
