Lead Data Integration Developer

Salary: £98,000 + Bonus
Location: London
Hybrid: 2 days per week

I’m working on a really interesting opportunity for a Lead Data Integration Developer to take ownership of a business-critical integration platform while helping to modernise a legacy SSIS environment.

This isn’t your typical ETL/Data Engineering role. The focus is much more around application integration, workflow and owning a critical process end-to-end, while helping the business move towards a more modern Azure-based environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What they’re looking for:

  • Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and SQL Server/T-SQL
  • Experience across application integration, APIs, messaging and orchestration
  • A background owning and supporting business-critical production systems
  • Experience improving or modernising legacy integration environments, ideally with exposure to Azure
  • Someone comfortable taking the technical lead – reviewing code, mentoring developers and driving best practice
  • Financial services experience ideally but not a deal break

There’s a wider transformation happening around the platform, so they’re not looking for someone to simply come in and maintain SSIS. They want someone who can understand what’s there today, take ownership of it and help move it forward.

The sweet spot is someone with strong SSIS/integration experience who has either been through a modernisation journey before or is ready to take that next step.
