Interaction Designer – Public Sector / GDS - Permanent
Location: Brighton / Worthing / Telford
Employment: Permanent
Clearance: SC eligible
We’re looking for an experienced Interaction Designer to join a growing digital transformation team, working on complex and high-profile UK Government programmes.
You’ll work as part of multidisciplinary Agile teams to design accessible, intuitive and user-centred digital services aligned with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
The Role
You’ll take designs from initial concepts through to delivery, using research and evidence to understand user needs and turn them into effective digital experiences.
- Create and present user interfaces, user flows, journey maps, service maps, wireframes and interactive prototypes
- Work closely with User Researchers, developers, architects and other UCD professionals
- Facilitate workshops, engage with senior stakeholders and help resolve complex design challenges within fast-paced Agile delivery environments

What We’re Looking For
- Strong Interaction Design and user-centred design experience
- Experience working to GDS service standards and design principles
- Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or similar design tools
- Strong rapid prototyping experience
- Knowledge of GOV.UK Prototype Kit
- HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript
- Experience creating user flows, journey maps, service maps and wireframes
- Accessibility and inclusive design knowledge
- Experience working within multidisciplinary Agile teams
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues

Knowledge of GitHub, Heroku and Node.js would also be beneficial, alongside previous consultancy or broader multidisciplinary design experience.
Security Clearance
Candidates must be eligible to obtain SC clearance, which includes having lived continuously in the UK for the last 5 years. You must already have the right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available.
Working Arrangement
This is a hybrid position with a blend of home, office and client-site working. You’ll be expected to work from an office for a minimum of 2 days per week and travel where required.
