Interim Assistant Accountant
£35,000 - £40,000 (pro rata) | Minimum 6-Month Contract | Fully Onsite | West Edinburgh Area
Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant looking for an interim opportunity where you can make an immediate impact? The Role
As Interim Assistant Accountant, you will support the finance team across a broad range of transactional and accounting activities. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and previous experience working with Sage.

- Maintain daybooks and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
- Process purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end accounting processes.
- Prepare journals and support the maintenance of accurate financial data.
- Support reporting requirements and finance administration tasks.
- Ensure data integrity within Sage.
- Work closely with the wider team to support day-to-day finance operations.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a proactive and reliable finance professional who can quickly integrate into the team and contribute from day one.
Mandatory
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, or similar finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of Sage.
- Experience maintaining daybooks and processing financial transactions.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Availability to commit to a minimum three-month contract.
- Ability to work onsite five days per week.
Preferred
- Experience supporting month-end processes.
- Strong reconciliation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience working within a fast-paced commercial environment.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant seeking an immediate-start interim contract within a growing organisation.
- Salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (pro rata).
- Minimum 6-month contract with potential for extension.
- Fully onsite role based in the West Edinburgh area.
- 40-hour working week.
- 28 days annual leave.
