Global Accounting Network Recruitment

Global Accounting Network are working with a leading investment management group to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Manager on a fixed-term maternity cover basis.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the day-to-day AP function, ensuring accurate and timely processing, robust financial controls and high standards of compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable function, ensuring invoices, expenses and payments are processed accurately and on time.
  • Manage and prioritise the AP team's workload, ensuring processing and month-end deadlines are met.
  • Review and approve invoices, ensuring accurate coding, appropriate authorisation and compliance with internal policies.
  • Review and approve payment runs, with particular focus on unusual or high-value payments and fraud prevention controls.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex supplier queries, disputes and payment issues.
  • Oversee supplier onboarding and changes to supplier bank details.
  • Monitor aged payables, supplier statements and outstanding invoices, resolving discrepancies and overdue balances.
  • Support cash flow forecasting and maintain strong AP controls.
  • Ensure all invoices are posted ahead of month-end close and prepare/review accruals where required.
  • Investigate unusual AP balances and provide commentary to the wider finance team.
  • Support audit and financial reporting requirements.
  • Lead, coach and develop the AP team, providing guidance on complex invoices and ensuring appropriate team coverage.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce bottlenecks and introduce automation.
  • Maintain accurate AP procedures and documentation.

About You

We are looking for an experienced AP professional with proven team management experience and strong technical knowledge.

Essential:

  • Part-qualified or fully qualified AAT, or equivalent senior AP experience.
  • Proven experience managing or supervising an accounts payable team.
  • Strong end-to-end AP knowledge, including invoice processing, payment runs, reconciliations, aged payables and month-end close.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems; Maconomy experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Desirable:

  • Experience within investment management, asset management, wealth management or financial services.
  • Experience in a regulated or multi-entity environment.
  • Exposure to purchase-to-pay automation or workflow systems.
  • Experience supporting audit and month-end financial reporting.
