6-month contract role with a local authority

Summary

This is a 6-month contract role with a local authority, focused on providing professional asset and estate management services across the Council's commercial and corporate property portfolio. The postholder will be responsible for the effective management of acquisitions, disposals, leases, valuations, and estate-related matters. The aim is to ensure the Council maximises asset value, financial returns, and social benefits while mitigating risk and supporting strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Council's commercial and corporate property portfolio.
  • Negotiate and oversee property acquisitions, disposals, leases, licenses, easements, and other property agreements.
  • Undertake estate management activities to maximise income generation and asset performance.
  • Support the delivery of the Council's Asset Management Strategy and Commercial Property Strategy.
  • Provide professional advice on property and estate matters to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Essential Experience Required

  • Significant experience in property, asset, or estates management within a local authority, public sector, or similar complex organisation.
  • Strong background in commercial estate management, acquisitions, disposals, and landlord & tenant matters.
  • Experience negotiating leases, licenses, property agreements, and land transactions.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • MRICS qualified (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Degree in Estate Management, Real Estate, Property Management, Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • Hybrid working model, ideally 1–2 days per week on site.
  • We operate on a bi-weekly schedule.
