THE ROLE
We are looking for an Interim Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a key role in ensuring the accuracy of our financial reporting, tracking business performance and driving informed decision-making. It involves a variety of management accounting responsibilities, including the timely production of month-end accounts, maintaining internal controls and providing analytical support to the Finance team and the wider business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build on their existing accounting and finance experience.

Month-End Reporting:
- Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs (Income Statements, Balance Sheets).
- Support the month-end close processes.
- Prepare and post prepayments.
- Review transactional ledgers and post accruals.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
- Prepare and post depreciation journals.
- Prepare group recharges and review intercompany balances.
- Run balance sheet revaluation processes.
- Post other month-end journals.

Variance Analysis:
- Compare financial results against budgets and prior periods.
- Prepare commentary for variances.

Reconciliations:
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies.

Compliance:
- Assist with VAT return preparation and submission.
- Assist with year-end processes and audit information requests.

Business Support:
- Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable when required.
- Provide ad hoc support to Finance and to the wider business.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Double-entry accounting knowledge is essential.
- Good understanding of core accounting principles.
- Experience of month-end processes and accounting systems is preferred.
- Strong numeracy and Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Supportive of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Part-qualified or actively studying towards an accounting qualification (AAT, CIMA, ACCA).

Competitive hourly or pro-rata annual rate based on experience.

WORKING DAYS/HOURS
4 Day Working Week (Monday-Friday) 34 Hours per week (8:30-5:30)
