Role: Interim Associate Director of Quality & Safeguarding
Sector: FE Education
Remuneration: c. £550 per day, inside IR35
Contract: c. 6 months fixed-term contract
Start: ASAP, mid-October
Location: On-site across London & Surrey
GatenbySanderson is delighted to be supporting a specialist SEND college in the appointment of an Interim Associate Director of Quality & Safeguarding.
Reporting to the CEO, this highly visible leadership role will provide strategic and operational oversight of quality assurance, quality improvement, and safeguarding across a multi-site specialist education environment.
The successful candidate will lead on quality of education, inspection readiness, self-assessment, safeguarding assurance, and continuous improvement, whilst providing support and challenge to leaders across the organisation.

The Ideal Candidate
- A proven track record of leading quality improvement within FE, specialist SEND, or wider education settings.
- Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks, quality assurance, and inspection readiness.
- Experience of leading self-assessment, quality improvement planning, and internal audit activity.
- Significant safeguarding leadership experience, with the ability to provide assurance at an organisational level.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the credibility to support and challenge senior leaders.
- Experience within SEND would be highly desirable, although strong FE quality leaders will also be of interest.
