Job Description: Senior Data & BI Analyst

We're partnering with a data-driven organisation seeking a hands-on Senior Data & BI Analyst to take ownership of reporting, analytics and data governance across the business. This is a highly visible role where you'll combine technical expertise, commercial analysis and stakeholder engagement to help shape strategic decision-making.

Client Details

Our client is a growing insights-led organisation that uses data to drive business performance, customer engagement and strategic planning. They have invested heavily in their data platform and are looking for an experienced analyst to take ownership of reporting, champion data quality and provide meaningful insights to stakeholders across the organisation.

Description

Reporting & BI Ownership

  • Own and develop the Power BI reporting estate end-to-end.
  • Design and maintain semantic models, star schemas, DAX measures and Power Query transformations.
  • Manage workspace structures, report lifecycle processes and refresh reliability.
  • Define and govern business metrics, ensuring consistency across reporting.
  • Maintain executive dashboards and key performance reporting across multiple business functions.
  • Provide confidence in reporting outputs and present findings to senior stakeholders, including executive leadership.

Data Analysis

  • Translate loosely defined business questions into clear analytical approaches.
  • Perform exploratory and adhoc analysis using SQL, Power BI, Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Identify trends, opportunities and risks within complex datasets.
  • Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Governance

  • Support GDPR compliance activities and data governance processes.
  • Maintain Records of Processing Activities (ROPA).
  • Ensure appropriate DPIAs are completed for new tools, systems and processes involving personal data.
  • Promote best practice around data quality, consistency and governance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with technical teams to shape data pipelines and platform development.
  • Communicate data limitations, modelling assumptions and data quality considerations clearly.
  • Support wider business teams with reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Act as the go-to person for reporting and data-related queries across the organisation.

You'll be a highly capable analytics professional who is comfortable operating across business intelligence, analysis and data governance.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong Power BI experience including DAX, Power Query, semantic modelling and dataflows.
  • Advanced SQL skills (SQL Server and/or Snowflake).
  • Experience working with Azure Data Factory and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong data modelling and data warehousing understanding.
  • Ability to analyse complex datasets and communicate findings clearly.
  • Experience working directly with senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience with automation and scripting, ideally using Python.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs and integrating data from multiple sources.
  • Strong Excel skills, including automation and data manipulation.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and modern development practices.

Desirable Experience

  • Survey, research or panel data experience.
  • Understanding of sampling, weighting and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with AI tools within analytics workflows.
  • Exposure to GDPR documentation and compliance processes.
  • Knowledge of platforms such as Braze, Zapier, Jira and Monday.com.

Job Offer

  • Day rate - £350 per day Inside IR35
  • Contract length - 3 month initial contract
  • Immediate Start
  • Based in London (1-2days per week)
