Interim Buyer
Location: Oxfordshire
Contract Length: 6–8 months
Rate: £300 per day
IR35: Inside IR35
Working Pattern: 3–4 days per week onsite
We are supporting a highly technical engineering organisation with the appointment of an Interim Buyer to join their procurement team on an initial 6–8 month contract.
This role will support the procurement of electronic components, with a particular focus on PCBs, working across complex engineering programmes where quality, technical specification, supplier performance and delivery are all critical.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, supply chain and programme stakeholders to ensure components and materials are sourced effectively and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement of electronic components and technical materials, particularly PCBs
- Managing RFQs and supplier enquiries through to order placement
- Supporting supplier selection, negotiation and commercial discussions
- Managing purchase orders and ensuring suppliers meet agreed cost, quality and delivery requirements
- Working closely with engineering and technical stakeholders to understand specifications and sourcing requirements
- Monitoring supplier performance and helping resolve delivery or supply chain issues
- Supporting sourcing activity across complex engineering programmes
- Building strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers
- Identifying supply chain risks and helping implement appropriate mitigation plans
- Maintaining accurate procurement and supplier records

Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have previous experience buying PCBs, electronic components or related technical commodities.
However, we would also be keen to speak with experienced Technical Buyers or Procurement professionals who have worked within complex engineering environments such as:

You should be comfortable working with technical specifications, engineering teams and specialist suppliers, and able to operate effectively in a fast-moving project or programme environment.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join an organisation delivering highly complex engineering programmes and take ownership of an important area of the supply chain.
The role is expected to run for 6–8 months initially, with a requirement to be onsite in Oxfordshire around 3–4 days per week.
Rate: £300 per day, Inside IR35.
