Interim Category Manager – HR Technology (12 Months)
£750 per day Inside IR35 | London – 1–2 days per week | 12-Month Contract
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Category Manager – HR Technology to join a major organisation and take ownership of strategic sourcing and commercial activity across a broad portfolio of HR systems, technology and services.
We are looking for a hands-on procurement professional with strong experience sourcing and negotiating HR Technology, with particular exposure to areas such as Workday, payroll systems, HRIS, recruitment technology, learning platforms and wider HR SaaS and cloud solutions.
This is a high-profile role partnering closely with senior HR, Technology, Procurement, Legal and Risk stakeholders to deliver commercial value across complex and business-critical HR technology programmes.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing and commercial negotiations across HR Technology and systems
- Manage sourcing activity across Workday, payroll, HRIS, recruitment technology and wider HR SaaS/cloud platforms
- Lead complex RFPs, competitive tenders, contract negotiations and renewals
- Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies across HR Technology
- Analyse spend, supplier markets and business requirements to identify sourcing and commercial opportunities
- Partner with senior HR, Technology, Procurement, Finance, Legal and Risk stakeholders
- Negotiate complex SaaS and cloud agreements, ensuring appropriate commercial terms, service levels, contractual protections and risk mitigation
- Work closely with Information Security, Data Protection, Legal and Risk teams to manage supplier due diligence and onboarding
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, supplier consolidation and improved commercial and contractual terms
- Manage relationships with key global Technology and HR systems suppliers
- Support contract lifecycle management, including major renewals and supplier performance
- Ensure sourcing activity meets relevant governance, regulatory and compliance requirements
- Support major transformation and change programmes across the HR Technology landscape

Ideal experience:
- 6+ years' Procurement, Strategic Sourcing or Category Management experience
- Strong procurement/category experience across HR Technology
- Demonstrable experience negotiating Workday and/or major payroll systems
- Strong experience negotiating SaaS and cloud-based software agreements
- Broader exposure to HRIS, recruitment technology, learning platforms and wider HR SaaS solutions
- Good understanding of the broader HR category, including areas such as Payroll, Recruitment, Reward & Benefits
- Strong understanding of commercial terms, service levels, data protection, information security and supplier risk
- Familiarity with sourcing Technology and/or Professional Services would be advantageous
- Experience within banking, insurance, financial services, legal or another highly regulated environment would be beneficial
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across HR, Technology, Legal and Risk
- Comfortable operating autonomously and delivering at pace within an interim environment
