Interim CFO | VC-Backed FinTech | London / Hybrid
Harmonic are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a VC-backed fintech in their search for an Interim CFO.
The business generates c.£150m in revenue, serves customers across multiple markets internationally. The leadership team is commercially sharp and hands-on, and the business is continuing to scale at a rapid pace.
The Role
This is a six month interim engagement covering the CFO seat ahead of a permanent appointment. Reporting to the CEO, the Interim CFO will lead the finance function and work closely with the wider leadership team. This is a hands-on role, setting direction while staying close to the detail, including controls. The immediate priority is deepening the business's understanding of its numbers and bringing the experience to identify areas of growth, efficiency and improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function through the interim period, providing continuity to the CEO, leadership team and board
- Develop deeper visibility of business performance and its key drivers to support decision making
- Review and strengthen the financial controls framework as the business scales
- Identify and address gaps in finance processes, reporting and capability
- Operate hands-on alongside the finance team
- Advise the leadership team on growth and investment decisions
- Deliver against a defined set of priorities agreed with the CEO at the outset of the assignment
- Ensure a clean and well documented handover to the permanent CFO

What We Need to See (Essential)
- CFO experience essential, or a senior number 2 to a CFO in a renowned scale-up business
- Experience in a VC-backed or high-growth environment, with a focus on revenue growth.
- Comfortable operating as a player-coach, strategic with the leadership team and hands-on in the detail
- A track record of maturing finance functions and controls as a business scales

What We'd Like to See (Bonus)
- Fintech or financial services background
- Exposure to late stage growth, an exit or IPO preparation
- Experience of debt or equity financing
Day Rate
£1,000 to £2,000 per day, depending on experience (IR35 status to be confirmed)
