About the job
Our client, a fast-growing, international insurtech business is seeking an experienced Interim Commercial Lawyer to join its regional legal team on a 6–9 month basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer with experience in the insurance sector to join a fast-paced, technology-led business and take ownership of a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters across Europe.
You will work closely with senior legal and business stakeholders, supporting a high-profile period of growth and strategic activity. The role will have a strong focus on commercial contracting and insurance distribution arrangements across multiple European jurisdictions, with some UK work also involved.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the drafting, review, negotiation and management of a broad range of commercial agreements, including insurance distribution, service and partnership agreements.
- Advising on commercial arrangements involving insurers, brokers, administrators and distribution partners.
- Identifying and interpreting relevant laws, regulations and legal requirements across multiple European jurisdictions.
- Identifying and mitigating legal and compliance risks, providing practical and commercially focused advice to business stakeholders.
- Supporting the monitoring and assessment of regulatory and compliance risks and helping to embed a strong compliance culture across the business.
- Working closely with senior business stakeholders, regional and group legal teams, and compliance colleagues to provide clear, pragmatic legal guidance.
- Supporting oversight, reporting, escalation and governance activities alongside senior members of the Legal & Compliance function.
- Managing a varied workload across multiple jurisdictions and adapting to the needs of a fast-growth, technology-led business.

Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with 5+ years' PQE.
- Strong commercial experience, gained within the insurance or insurtech sector.
- Experience working on insurance distribution arrangements and an understanding of the roles of insurers, brokers and administrators.
- Comfortable working across multiple European jurisdictions.
- Able to operate independently and confidently in an environment where processes and playbooks are still evolving.
