We are supporting a leading global fintech with the appointment of a Compliance Consultant into a fast-paced project supporting the launch of a new private banking proposition.
Sitting at the intersection of private banking regulation, front office conduct oversight and launch readiness, this role will provide specialist compliance support across a high-profile, time-critical launch, working as an additional pair of hands alongside the wider compliance and legal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist private banking regulatory oversight to support the launch of the new proposition.
- Conduct regulatory readiness and gap assessments, ensuring appropriate controls, policies and governance are established ahead of launch.
- Review customer journeys, products and operating processes to identify and remediate private banking compliance risks.
- Provide front office oversight, including conduct and complaints relating to private bankers, quality assurance of client interactions and second-line review of escalated cases.
- Support SMCR requirements, including fit-and-proper assessments for private bankers as a certified function.
- Provide regulatory guidance on the cross-border expansion of the private banking proposition into new international markets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for a private banking compliance generalist with broad regulatory knowledge that goes beyond the processes of any single firm.
You will ideally bring:
- Private banking or wealth management compliance experience (3+ years in regulatory compliance as a minimum).
- Front office oversight experience: conduct, complaints, QA of client interactions and second-line review of escalated cases.
- Strong SMCR knowledge, including the Certification Regime and fit-and-proper assessments.
- Working knowledge of conflicts of interest and market abuse.
- Familiarity with core private banking products: discretionary portfolio management and execution-only trading (shares, bonds, ETFs). Structured products and CFDs knowledge would be a strong advantage.
- Breadth across regulatory areas rather than deep specialism in one.
- Experience of regulatory readiness or gap assessments, or cross-border expansion work, would be advantageous.
