A leading private equity firm is seeking an experienced Interim Compliance Specialist to join its growing European platform on an initial 6-month contract.
5 days a week in the office - Monday to Friday - London, West End
This is a broad and highly visible role, working across multiple European jurisdictions and partnering closely with internal teams, external advisers and legal counsel. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy and will be trusted to manage a varied compliance agenda in a fast-paced, commercially focused private equity environment.
The role would suit an experienced compliance professional who is comfortable taking ownership, navigating multiple jurisdictions and stakeholders, and operating independently within a sophisticated investment business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee compliance activities across the firm's European operations and multiple jurisdictions.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, senior management, investment professionals and operational teams to provide practical compliance guidance.
- Partner with internal and external legal counsel on regulatory and compliance matters.
- Support the development, implementation and ongoing enhancement of compliance policies, procedures and controls.
- Monitor regulatory developments across relevant European jurisdictions and assess their impact on the business.
- Provide advice on a broad range of compliance matters within a private equity environment.
- Coordinate with external advisers and other third-party stakeholders where required.
- Support regulatory filings, monitoring, risk assessments, reviews and other compliance initiatives.
- Identify and manage compliance risks, escalating significant matters appropriately.
- Contribute to the firm's continued growth by ensuring compliance frameworks remain appropriate, robust and commercially effective.

We are looking for an established compliance professional with:
- Proven private equity experience — essential.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions, ideally within a European investment or financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial services compliance and the regulatory environment relevant to private equity.
- Experience working directly with lawyers and external advisers.
- The confidence and maturity to operate with a high degree of independence.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective relationships across a business.
- A pragmatic, commercially minded approach to compliance.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- The ability to quickly understand a business, identify priorities and make an immediate impact in an interim capacity.
