Job Description

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Deputy S151 to step into a highly visible interim role, leading a sizeable finance function and supporting an S151 Officer through a period of organisational change and transformation. You'll combine technical excellence with strategic leadership, helping to strengthen financial management, develop teams and drive improvement across a complex public sector environment.

Description

  • Oversee the preparation and monitoring of budgets to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Provide expert financial advice to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Lead on the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Support the development and implementation of effective financial strategies and policies.
  • Manage financial risks and provide mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the performance of the finance team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Support the Section 151 Officer in fulfilling legal and regulatory responsibilities.

Profile

A successful Interim Deputy S151 should have:

  • Professional accounting qualifications, such as CIPFA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Experience in managing public sector finance and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and governance frameworks.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and lead a finance team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to financial challenges.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and software.
