Role: Interim Director of Digital & Information Services

Remuneration: £97,500 - £121,000 fixed-term contract

Contract: c. 6 months

Start: Early October

Location: Flexible, with some regular on-site presence in Scotland required

GatenbySanderson is delighted to be supporting a large and complex organisation seeking an experienced Interim Director of Digital & Information Services to join its senior leadership team during a period of change and transformation.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will provide strategic leadership to a substantial digital function, helping to shape its future direction whilst ensuring continuity of service during the transition to a permanent Director.

This is not a caretaker assignment. The organisation is seeking a credible and collaborative interim leader who can bring fresh thinking, challenge constructively, and create momentum across the function.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A successful track record of leading large-scale digital transformation within complex public sector organisations.
  • The ability to develop and articulate a clear digital vision and roadmap aligned to organisational priorities.
  • Strong leadership credentials, with experience building engagement, capability and positive team cultures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at executive and board level.
  • Commercial and strategic awareness, including experience contributing to financial planning, investment decisions and governance processes.

Higher Education experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We are keen to hear from candidates who have operated in similarly complex environments within a public sector organisation and can demonstrate experience of digital transformation and cultural change.
