Summary
Our client is a growing, professional services organisation looking for an Interim Director of Finance and Operations on a 3-month contract. Working closely with the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of finance while partnering with operational and HR teams to drive business performance and support future growth initiatives.
The Role
- Lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, reporting and governance.
- Produce timely monthly management accounts, board packs and financial commentary.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital and treasury activities.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning processes.
- Provide commercial analysis and decision support to the founders and leadership team.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve project profitability, utilisation and resource planning.
- Support HR with workforce planning, headcount reporting, salary reviews and remuneration analysis.
- Review and enhance financial processes, systems and reporting frameworks.
- Lead relationships with external accountants, auditors, banking partners and other stakeholders.
- Oversee payroll, VAT, statutory compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate growth opportunities, acquisitions and strategic projects as required.
- Support the leadership team with business planning and operational performance initiatives.

The Successful Candidate
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven experience operating as a Finance Director, Head of Finance or equivalent senior finance leader.
- Experience within professional services, ideally construction, or consultancy.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
- Experience working closely with founders, owners or entrepreneurial leadership teams.
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on capacity within a growing SME environment.
- Strong understanding of operational KPIs, project performance and resource management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
