Position Summary
As Director of Sales & Marketing, you will lead the hotel’s sales function, build valuable customer relationships and identify new opportunities to grow revenue, occupancy and market share. Working closely with the General Manager and wider leadership team, you will translate market insight into a focused commercial strategy that strengthens the hotel’s performance and positioning.
You will also lead, coach and develop a high-performing sales team, creating the clarity, energy and accountability needed to deliver ambitious results.
The impact you’ll make
You will take ownership of the hotel’s sales strategy, ensuring that our people, partnerships and commercial activity are aligned behind the right priorities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering the hotel’s strategic sales plan across its key market segments
- Leading both proactive and reactive sales activity to generate new business and convert opportunities
- Building long-term, value-based relationships with key accounts, customers and local partners
- Using market intelligence, performance data and competitor insight to identify opportunities and adjust strategy
- Working with Revenue Management to strengthen occupancy, RevPAR and market share
- Representing Sales within the hotel’s leadership team and acting as a trusted commercial partner to the General Manager
- Collaborating with Area Sales, Group Sales, Event Management and regional Marketing Communications teams
- Participating in sales calls, client events and trade shows to develop relationships and secure business
- Identifying creative marketing and public-relations opportunities that enhance the hotel’s profile
- Overseeing the marketing budget and developing property-specific campaigns, promotions and collateral
- Ensuring a seamless handover between Sales and Operations so that every customer receives an exceptional experience
- Maintaining strong commercial performance by growing revenue, managing costs and delivering a return for both the owner and Marriott International
- Acting as the hotel’s authority on sales processes, customer agreements and sales contracts

What We’re Looking For
You will bring strong hotel sales experience, sound commercial judgement and the ability to turn insight into action. You will be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, leading a team and balancing immediate revenue opportunities with longer-term strategic growth.
You will also have:
- Progressive experience within sales, marketing or a closely related commercial discipline
- Previous experience within the hotel or wider hospitality industry
- A track record of strong performance and increasing responsibility
- Experience leading, supervising or developing others
- Strong knowledge of strategic account management and business development
- The confidence to analyse market trends, competitor activity and commercial performance
- Excellent relationship-building, communication and influencing skills
- A customer-focused approach and a commitment to delivering exceptional service
- The ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Revenue Management, Events, Marketing and Operations
