Interim Executive Officer – 3-Month Contract
Location: West Offices, Station Rise, York, YO1 6GA
Rate: £25.07 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 3-Month Contract
Hours: Full Time
Pay: Bi-weekly
Summary
We are in search of a seasoned Interim Executive Officer to deliver top-tier executive support to a senior leader within the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. This pivotal role demands outstanding organizational abilities, adept stakeholder management, and the capacity to excel in a dynamic, politically sensitive setting. You will serve as a crucial contact for senior stakeholders, ensuring that priorities are efficiently managed and executed.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive executive assistance to a senior leader.
- Oversee a complex and dynamic schedule, aligning priorities and commitments.
- Prepare and organize briefing materials, correspondence, meetings, and events.
- Serve as a primary liaison with MPs, elected officials, government bodies, businesses, community leaders, Police and Fire Services, and other senior stakeholders.
- Handle sensitive, confidential, and politically significant issues with discretion.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to urgent matters and shifting priorities.
- Track actions, correspondence, and follow-up activities to ensure timely completion.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify risks and escalate issues as necessary.
- Represent the office with professionalism in all interactions.

Essential Requirements
- Extensive experience supporting a senior executive, elected official, politician, director, or other high-profile leader.
- Background in a political, public sector, government, or stakeholder-rich environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules and competing priorities.
- Superior organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to work independently and exercise initiative.
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficient in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Ability to anticipate issues and respond proactively.

Desirable
- Existing Police Vetting clearance.
- Experience within Local Government, Combined Authorities, Central Government, or Political Offices.
- Experience supporting elected officials or senior political leaders.
- Understanding of governance and public sector decision-making processes.
