Interim Finance Director
Professional Services | PE-Backed Consultancy Business
- Day Rate: £800 per day
- Contract: 9 Months Initial Term
- Location: London (Hybrid)
- Start Date: Immediate / Short Notice Preferred

Finatal is partnering with a private equity-backed professional services business with revenues exceeding £100m that is entering a pivotal phase of growth. Following a recent acquisition and significant investment into the platform, the CFO is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to strengthen financial controls, enhance commercial reporting, and support the integration of newly acquired entities.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring an individual who can operate strategically whilst ensuring finance continues to deliver effectively through a period of transformation.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the number two to the CFO, leading the day-to-day finance function
- Driving budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
- Improving board reporting and investor reporting for the PE sponsor
- Leading the integration of an acquired business, including systems, reporting, and controls
- Reviewing and enhancing working capital performance and cash conversion
- Supporting commercial teams with profitability analysis and client-level performance reporting
- Implementing best-in-class financial controls and governance frameworks
- Managing and developing a team across Financial Control, Reporting, and FP&A
- Supporting strategic initiatives including further M&A activity and expansion plans

Candidate Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, or ACMA qualified
- Previous experience as Finance Director, Head of Finance, or Financial Controller within a professional services environment
- Strong understanding of project-based revenue models and utilisation reporting
- Experience operating within a PE-backed business
- Proven track record of finance transformation, acquisition integration, or change projects
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working alongside CEOs, CFOs, and investors
- Ability to provide both strategic insight and hands-on leadership

Desirable Experience
- Consultancy, legal services, recruitment, technology services, or business services sector exposure
- Experience preparing businesses for refinancing, investment, or exit processes
- Exposure to ERP implementations or finance system upgrades
- Prior involvement in buy-and-build environments
