Job Title: Interim Finance Director

Salary: Negotiable day rate / FTC salary
Location: Oxfordshire (hybrid)
Qualifications: ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (with significant PQE)

We are partnering with a well-established construction business in the Oxfordshire area who are looking for a Finance Director on a contract basis. Responsibilities Include (but aren't limited to)

  • Leading all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, statutory accounts, treasury management, and tax compliance.
  • Shaping and delivering the group's financial strategy in alignment with shareholder objectives.
  • Driving effective contract management through financial analysis, supplier performance monitoring, and risk assessment.
  • Ensuring strong cash flow management, working capital discipline, and financial resilience.
  • Providing financial leadership, guidance, and governance across all commercial activity, ensuring alignment with regulation and shareholder objectives.
  • Managing cash, working capital, and capital allocation to support operational resilience and strategic investment.
  • Leading the group’s risk management framework including financial, operational, regulatory, and strategic risks.
  • Strengthening commercial disciplines including contribution analysis, cost-to-serve understanding, and post-win performance reviews.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing finance team.
  • Ensuring timely provision of accurate management accounts, KPIs, and performance measures.

What's Essential

  • Must be a fully qualified accountant with significant PQE in Finance Director positions.
  • Strong track record of leading a large finance function, supporting commercial growth and operational performance.
  • Due to the contract nature of the role, all applicants must be available to start on relatively short notice (one month notice or less).

What's Desirable

  • Experience in construction, facilities management, utilities, housing, or any multi-site environment.
  • Experience in mergers, acquisitions, system integration, or implementations.
  • Experience developing pricing strategies and challenging business cases to ensure robust appraisal and value creation.
