The Opportunity
We are working on a confidential and exclusive basis with a fast-growing SME operating in the early years and childcare sector, based in Greater Manchester. As the business enters its next phase of growth, our client is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to join at short notice and provide strong financial leadership to the board.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a finance leader who can combine strategic input with day-to-day rigour — someone equally comfortable presenting to the board as they are strengthening the systems and controls underneath.

- Overseeing financial performance, reporting and forecasting across the group
- Strengthening financial controls, systems and processes to support scalable growth
- Providing strategic and commercial input to support board-level decision-making
- Managing relationships with key external stakeholders, including banks, auditors and advisors
- Bringing rigour to funding and revenue recognition in a regulated, multi-site operating environment
- Supporting cost control and margin management across a staffing-intensive cost base
- Laying the financial foundations — reporting, KPIs, governance — needed for continued expansion
Qualifications
About You
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant PQE at FD or senior finance leader level
- Proven interim experience, able to add value quickly and operate independently from day one
- Experience in a multi-site, regulated, or people/services-intensive business is highly advantageous
- Strong track record of building financial controls and infrastructure in a growing SME
- Confident operating at board level and managing external stakeholder relationships
- Available at short notice
