Interim Finance Director | South Yorkshire | PE-backed Software Business
We're working with a private equity-backed software business in South Yorkshire looking to appoint an Interim Finance Director.
The business is at an exciting stage of its journey. Growth has been strong, but the finance function now needs the structure, reporting and commercial insight required to support the next phase of scale and, ultimately, prepare the business for a future exit.
We're looking for someone who enjoys building finance functions, creating meaningful management information and helping leadership teams make better decisions. You'll act as a key partner to both the CEO and investors, bringing the financial rigour and commercial insight needed in a PE-backed environment.

Responsibilities
- Building and improving financial processes, controls and governance across the business.
- Creating meaningful management reporting and KPI dashboards to drive decision-making.
- Developing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management processes.
- Establishing commercial finance reporting around revenue, profitability, margins and business performance.
- Partnering with the CEO and leadership team to provide strategic financial insight and challenge.
- Supporting board reporting and stakeholder communication, including private equity investors.
- Preparing the business for a future exit by improving reporting quality, financial controls and overall finance readiness.
- Working with external advisors where required and helping the business present itself effectively through any future transaction process.
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA).
- Previous experience as a Finance Director, CFO or Fractional Finance Leader.
- Experience within software, SaaS or technology businesses.
- Strong understanding of commercial finance, reporting and business performance metrics.
- Experience working in private equity-backed environments.
- A track record of building or improving finance functions within growing businesses.
- Previous involvement in fundraising, investment, due diligence or exit preparation would be highly advantageous.
