UK Club Finance Manager - 18 months FTC
Reports to: UK Club Financial Controller
Working Arrangements: London, Full Time, Hybrid, 3 days in office
Overall Objective of Role: We are seeking an experienced finance contractor to backfill a key role while a major project is underway. This is a hands-on delivery role requiring an all-rounder with strong insurance accounting expertise. The role is critical to business-as-usual delivery and will work closely with the Financial Controller (FC), CFO, and wider finance and actuarial teams. The team provides financial, accounting and regulatory services for the UK P&I Club. It operates a flexible structure where team members work in various roles on multiple projects.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working as part of the team across the team’s main areas of work, contributing ideas and challenging others’ work and opinions as appropriate.

Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain/monitor the regular financial processes of the Club
- Monthly management account pack to support business decisions
- Statutory reporting, including managing the external audit process
- Ad hoc projects as required
- Maintain a good working knowledge of technical accounting matters; monitoring emerging accounting standards under FRS, IFRS and regulatory requirements
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including reinsurance brokers and the International Group.
- Support business decisions with quality management information

Person Specification:
- Preferably qualified ACA or ACCA or equivalent
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong IT skills, preferably with good programming skills or a keen interest in developing such skills.
- Ability to develop good working relationships across all levels of seniority.
- Ability to work at pace on multiple projects at the same time, managing time and resources appropriately.
- To be comfortable with peer review (giving and receiving) and to challenge others’ work and opinions appropriately.
- Ability to present clearly to the team and management. To be able to demonstrate good communication skills both written and oral.
- Ability to document work appropriately.
- Able to consider the wider business context and how the work and team fits into this, while having a keen eye for detail.
- Willing to seek guidance when needed but able to deal with ambiguity, using initiative and judgement to come up with appropriate solutions quickly.
- Experience in understanding and managing reinsurance contracts from a back-office perspective would be advantageous.
