Interim Finance Manager - Public Health
Location: Yorkshire
Rate: TBC
Contract: Interim, 12 Months
Start Date: TBC
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager - Public Health to provide financial leadership and business partnering support across Public Health services. Working closely with budget holders, service managers, and senior stakeholders, you will ensure robust financial management, support strategic decision-making, and help deliver sustainable financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial management and business partnering support for Public Health services.
- Support budget setting, budget monitoring, forecasting, and year-end processes.
- Provide financial advice and challenge to senior managers and budget holders.
- Monitor Public Health Grant expenditure and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and financial reports.
- Support the Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) and savings programme development.
- Develop financial models, business cases, and option appraisals to support service transformation.
- Ensure financial risks and opportunities are identified and appropriately managed.
- Contribute to statutory reporting, financial returns, and audit requirements.
- Support service reviews, commissioning activity, and contract monitoring where required.

- Essential Local government finance experience supporting public health and Adult social care.
- Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling capabilities.
- Knowledge of Public Health Grant funding and local authority financial processes.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
