We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join us on a 15 Month Maternity cover, who will be responsible for ensuring high-quality financial reporting and control across Pret's US and International markets. The role will lead a team responsible for delivering accurate and timely management accounts, maintaining robust balance sheet control, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly management reporting process for Pret's US and International markets, ensuring all key activities are completed accurately and on time to deliver high-quality financial results.
- Review monthly P&Ls, balance sheet reconciliations, journals and supporting schedules, challenging assumptions and ensuring the integrity of reported results.
- Analyse financial performance, including actual versus budget and forecast variances, and prepare concise, insightful commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Lead, coach and develop a team responsible for accounting transactions and month-end close activities, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and "no surprises".
- Ensure strong financial controls are maintained and accounting issues are identified, investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure operational and commercial developments are understood and appropriately reflected in the financial results.
- Remain hands-on where required, supporting the team with the preparation of reconciliations, schedules, journals and financial analysis to ensure successful delivery of reporting deadlines.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls and enhance the quality and efficiency of financial reporting.
- Support the delivery of wider finance projects, systems improvements and strategic initiatives as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
