Interim Finance Transformation Director – FTSE 250
9-month assignment | Starting mid-October | International business
We are working with a complex, international FTSE 250 organisation to appoint an experienced Interim Finance Transformation Director for an initial 9 month assignment.
This is a significant transformation mandate focused on optimising the global Finance operating model, increasing standardisation and scalability, and determining how Finance should be structured and delivered across an international organisation.
The business has already invested significantly in its technology and systems landscape. The next phase is about ensuring the operating model, processes, organisation and ways of working are designed to take full advantage of that investment.
The mandate
Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership team, you will assess the existing Finance operating model and develop a clear, evidence-based roadmap for its future evolution.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Assessing the current Finance Target Operating Model across a complex international organisation.
- Establishing a robust baseline across cost, FTE, activity, process and location.
- Reviewing the balance between embedded Finance, Centres of Excellence and Global Business Services / Shared Services.
- Identifying opportunities to further centralise and optimise transactional Finance activity.
- Assessing the maturity and potential expansion of existing GBS / SSC capability.
- Driving greater global standardisation across core Finance processes including P2P, O2C, R2R, intercompany, reconciliations, master data and month-end close.
- Establishing clearer global process ownership and accountability.
- Identifying opportunities for simplification, automation and AI-enabled productivity.
- Ensuring transformation strengthens rather than compromises the financial control environment.
- Developing the transformation business case, benefits case and investment requirements.
- Creating a practical, sequenced implementation and migration roadmap.
- Securing alignment across the CFO, executive leadership and wider international stakeholder community.
- Mobilising and potentially leading the initial waves of implementation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
