Interim Financial Accountant
Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid Working)
Salary: Competitive
Job Type: Interim 6 month contract
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Accountant to join a well-established organisation operating within a highly regulated and service-focused environment. This role will play a key part in supporting the finance function, ensuring the delivery of accurate financial information, robust controls, and insightful reporting to support decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and financial close activities.
- Prepare management accounts, financial reports, and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Maintain and reconcile key financial records, including bank, control account, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of annual accounts and act as a key contact during external and internal audits.
- Assist with budgeting and financial monitoring activities across the organisation.
- Manage and develop a small finance team, providing day-to-day support, coaching, and guidance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to enhance financial systems, reporting processes, and controls.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, providing financial advice and support where required.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified accountant (or qualified by experience) with strong financial accounting and reporting expertise. You will have experience preparing statutory accounts, management accounts, and audit schedules, alongside a proven ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.

You will also demonstrate:
- Strong month-end and year-end accounting experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
