Interim Assistant Financial Accountant - 6 months
Location: London | Hybrid 3 days a week.
Day Rate
We're partnering with a growing consumer-focused business looking to appoint an Assistant Financial Accountant to support the Financial Controller and play a key role in maintaining a robust, accurate, and well-controlled finance function.
This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to broaden their financial accounting experience within a fast-paced and evolving environment.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the General Ledger and ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and coded
- Preparing and posting journals including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, depreciation, and intercompany transactions
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolving reconciling items
- Supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Assisting with inventory and fixed asset accounting
- Supporting monthly management reporting, including balance sheet and P&L analysis
- Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and external audit requirements
- Supporting VAT compliance and regulatory reporting
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiencies
- Supporting finance systems enhancements and process documentation

About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Part-qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, or qualified by experience
- Experienced in a Financial Accounting, General Ledger, or similar finance role
- Comfortable supporting month-end close activities
- Strong in Microsoft Excel and experienced using ERP systems
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and naturally inquisitive
- Able to work independently whilst building strong relationships across the business
- Interested in improving processes and strengthening financial controls

Desirable Experience
- Experience within FMCG, retail, consumer products, or a similar sector
- Exposure to external audits and statutory accounts preparation
- Experience using Microsoft Business Central, Dynamics 365, SAP, or similar ERP systems
