The Opportunity

Finatal is supporting a growing private equity-backed financial services business seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to provide leadership and stability during a critical period of transformation.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of the finance function whilst driving improvements across financial reporting, controls, systems, and processes. The business has experienced significant growth and requires an individual who can quickly assess the current finance landscape, implement best practice, and deliver scalable processes to support future expansion.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys operating at pace and can balance day-to-day financial control with strategic improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly management accounts, board packs, and investor reporting.
  • Review and strengthen financial controls, governance, and balance sheet integrity.
  • Support year-end audit and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with the CFO to enhance budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
  • Lead finance systems optimisation initiatives, identifying opportunities for automation and reporting enhancements.
  • Assess existing finance processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Work closely with operational and technology teams to improve data quality and reporting capability.
  • Manage and develop a small finance team, providing leadership and support during a period of change.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
