Interim Financial Controller - Watford, Hertfordshire

JSS are proud to be exclusively partnering our client based near Watford, recruiting an experienced Interim Financial Controller to lead the optimisation of finance processes following the implementation of a new ERP system.

This 12 month fixed term contract role will focus on improving the efficiency, accuracy, and control of the month-end close process, enhancing management reporting and variance analysis, and driving automation across core finance activities. The successful candidate will work closely with finance and operational stakeholders to streamline processes, strengthen financial controls, and develop meaningful management reporting that supports timely and informed business decision-making. It is essential to have experience working with new ERP systems, improving processes, optimising ERP system efficiency for maximum time saving and ease of use.

The Role:

  • Review and optimise the month-end close process to reduce reporting timelines, improve accuracy, ensure the new ERP system is utilised for maximum benefits.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and manual workarounds within the finance function.
  • Implement best-practice close procedures, reconciliations, and control frameworks.
  • Develop and monitor close KPIs to track performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop reporting outputs directly from the ERP system, reducing reliance on manual spreadsheets.
  • Act as the finance lead for post-implementation ERP optimisation activities working with the finance team to provide training where necessary.
  • Review system configuration and reporting structures to ensure alignment with business requirements.
  • Drive automation of journals, reconciliations, reporting, and routine finance processes.
  • Partner with IT and the finance team to maximise ERP functionality.
  • Project manage the various improvement activities and update the Finance Director and CFO on a regular basis.

Profile:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven track record as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Senior Finance Manager
  • Significant experience improving month-end close processes and management reporting
  • Experience working within newly implemented ERP environments
  • Strong background in financial controls, process improvement, and finance transformation
  • Demonstrated success delivering automation and efficiency initiatives

On Offer:

  • A fixed term contract for 12 months paying circa £80,000 - £95,000 plus car allowance, bonus and benefits
  • The role will be predominantly office based
