Global Accounting Network are partnering with a PE-backed multisite business looking for an interim Financial Controller that is currently going through a significant carve-out and standalone transition.
As part of this process, they are looking to appoint an experienced Interim Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and ensure robust financial control, month-end reporting and management information during this important period.
This is a genuinely hands-on role. Will need to be comfortable rolling your sleeves up and owning everything from transactional finance through to month-end close and reporting.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the end-to-end finance operation, ensuring the business has accurate and timely financial information while establishing the processes and controls required for the newly standalone business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Managing the day-to-day accounting function across AP, AR, cash and general ledger
- Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring balance sheet integrity
- Producing management information and reporting packs for senior management and the PE investor
- Supporting the carve-out and transition to a standalone finance function
- Establishing and improving finance processes, controls and reporting infrastructure
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
- Working closely with operational stakeholders across the events business
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting
- Supporting the business as it develops its longer-term finance team and structure
- Liaising with auditors, tax advisers and other external stakeholders where required

About You

We are looking for a hands-on interim Financial Controller who is comfortable operating autonomously and getting stuck into the detail.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller
- Strong technical accounting and month-end reporting experience
- Experience working as a standalone finance lead / sole finance person
- Previous experience within a PE-backed or high-growth environment
- Experience of a carve-out, separation or business transition would be highly advantageous
- Strong systems experience, ideally including Sage 200
- Experience within the events, hospitality, leisure or similar sectors would be beneficial
- Excellent Excel skills
- A hands-on approach with the ability to move between transactional accounting and higher-level reporting
- The confidence to build processes and controls from the ground up
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with senior operational and commercial stakeholders
