Interim Financial Controller
£500-£800 per day | London | Hybrid (3 days in office) | PE-Backed Financial Services | 6 months MH2809
We are partnering with a c.£100m turnover, PE-backed financial services business seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller for an initial six-month assignment.
Operating in a fast-paced, investor-led environment, the business is looking for someone who can quickly take ownership of financial control and reporting, strengthen the underlying processes and provide senior leadership with greater confidence and visibility over the numbers.
With the pace and expectations that come with PE ownership, they need an experienced interim who can hit the ground running, bring greater rigour to the finance function and make a tangible impact from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the month-end close and management reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
- Lead and strengthen the financial control environment across the business.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations, controls and core accounting processes, addressing gaps and driving improvements.
- Oversee statutory reporting and support the delivery of external audit requirements.
- Review and enhance budgeting, forecasting and cash flow processes.
- Improve the quality, accuracy and visibility of financial information provided to senior stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and strengthen finance processes and reporting.
- Partner with senior finance and operational stakeholders across the business.
- Support ad-hoc finance projects and wider initiatives as required.

Candidate Profile

- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Previous experience operating as an Interim Financial Controller within a fast-paced or changing environment.
- Experience within financial services.
- Strong financial reporting, month-end and financial control experience.
- A track record of improving finance processes, controls and reporting.
- Strong technical accounting and audit management capabilities.
- Previous exposure to a PE-backed or investor-led environment would be highly desirable.
- The ability to quickly assess existing processes, identify areas for improvement and implement practical solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work closely with senior finance leadership.
- Immediate availability or the ability to start at short notice.
