Ivy Rock Partners Recruitment Opportunity

Ivy Rock Partners is working with a housing association to recruit an experienced Interim Financial Controller for an initial six-month contract.

This is a genuinely hands-on interim opportunity for a qualified accountant who can hit the ground running, take ownership of financial control and operational accounting, and lead the organisation through a critical period of year-end preparation, and external audit.

You will oversee a team covering transactional finance, rent and service charge accounting, while working closely with senior finance leadership to strengthen controls, improve processes and ensure the organisation is audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of financial accounting, general ledger integrity, balance sheet reconciliations and the month-end close.
  • Lead year-end preparation and manage the external audit process, working closely with newly appointed auditors.
  • Oversee transactional finance, including accounts payable, rent accounting, service charges, payroll reconciliations and VAT.
  • Identify and resolve historical reconciliation issues, control weaknesses and inefficiencies across finance processes.
  • Review and improve purchase-to-pay processes, financial controls and compliance across the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with FRS 102, Housing SORP and relevant regulatory accounting requirements, including upcoming reporting changes.
  • Lead, support and develop the finance team, establishing clear responsibilities and accountability.
  • Work closely with the senior stakeholders to deliver sustainable improvements and support the development of the future finance structure.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The organisation needs someone who can provide immediate stability, strengthen financial controls, ensure a successful year-end and audit process, and leave behind more effective and sustainable finance processes.

Previous experience delivering similar interim assignments within the housing sector will be particularly valuable.
