Interim Financial Controller – Payroll Project
Milton Keynes | £500–£600 per day | Outside IR35 | 3 months
We are working with a PE-backed business services group that is looking to appoint an experienced Interim Financial Controller for an initial three-month assignment.
The role will support the business through a period of change, with a particular focus on payroll, audit, and finance project work.
This is a hands-on assignment and we are looking for someone who can quickly take ownership of the work, identify issues, and drive them through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities
- Taking ownership of payroll-related finance and control work
- Supporting the business with payroll queries, reconciliations, and associated projects
- Working closely with the finance and payroll teams to ensure robust processes and controls
- Supporting the external audit and resolving audit queries
- Reviewing existing processes and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Delivering ad hoc financial control and project work during a period of change
Requirements
Substantial hands-on payroll experience is essential for this assignment. Experience of Ciphr would be particularly advantageous.

You will ideally have a strong financial control/accounting background and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, changing environment. You will need to be proactive, able to work independently, and confident managing projects and senior stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be available immediately or at short notice and able to commit to an initial three-month contract.
£500–£600 per day, outside IR35.
