Financial Services Regulatory Legal Counsel– Asset Management & Investment Solutions (London)

A leading global investment management organisation is looking to hire an interim Financial Services Regulatory Legal Counsel to support its UK and European investment solutions business. The role has a particular focus on model portfolio services, portfolio consulting solutions, and the distribution of investment products across multiple jurisdictions. The role will provide legal and regulatory advice to the wider B2B and D2C distribution businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Compliance team to provide legal and regulatory advice in connection with the planning, launch and ongoing development of model portfolio and portfolio consulting services in the UK and Europe. This will include cross-border regulatory analysis, negotiation of third party agreements and drafting client documentation.
  • Advise on UK and European financial services regulations, including cross-border considerations.
  • Liaise with the Legal and Compliance teams globally as necessary, together with colleagues in other areas of the business.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge and awareness of the investment industry, regulatory and/or policy changes with potential impact on the business.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements and client-facing documentation.

  • Qualified lawyer with five years’ plus experience working in-house for an international asset management organization and/or in a private practice law firm, handling a variety of financial services legal and regulatory matters.
  • Experienced in advising on UK and European financial regulation in an asset management context, both in the retail and institutional space and cross border.
  • A demonstrated ability to work on complex legal issues and to function in a high volume / fast-paced environment with multiple and diverse responsibilities, managing a varied and changing caseload.
  • Must be an enthusiastic and hard-working self-starter.
