About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an interim Senior Legal Counsel to join a fast-growing, technology-led financial services business that is transforming how small businesses access funding. Working closely with the General Counsel, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping legal strategy while partnering with stakeholders across the business to support ambitious growth in the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising across a diverse workload, including supporting US-related legal matters
  • Merger and bank-readiness projects
  • Negotiating strategic partner collaboration agreements
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial and vendor contracts
  • Advising on AI governance, privacy, and data protection
  • Providing day-to-day legal support to stakeholders across the business
  • Contributing to regulatory and product initiatives
  • Supporting governance matters
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver pragmatic, commercial legal advice

Requirements

  • UK-qualified lawyer with approximately 5–7+ years' PQE
  • Strong experience gained within financial services or fintech
  • Excellent commercial contracts experience
  • Solid knowledge of privacy and data protection
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload with minimal supervision
  • Experience within the payments ecosystem would be advantageous
  • Understanding of consumer credit regulation, particularly how businesses operate outside the consumer credit regulatory perimeter, would be highly beneficial
