We are inviting expressions of interest for a acting up/secondment into the role of General Manager for Medical Specialties, Frailty and General Medicine, this is an interim post for initially 6 months.

The General Manager is a high-profile leadership role within the Trust. Together with the Head of Nursing, the post holder will be responsible for overall management/ leadership of the designated care groups. Working with the management teams, clinical leads, matrons and senior AHP leads, to develop and evaluate all services within their remit.

The General Manager will ensure that effective and efficient structures are in place to ensure that all standards of patient care are met, and associated risk and governance matters are managed. The post holder will support the Head of Nursing and Clinical Leads in developing efficient and effective patient centred services, meeting key financial and operational performance targets, and putting in place effective processes for delivering national / local targets, reviewing the efficiency and effectiveness of services in terms of cost effectiveness and financial flows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across designated Care Groups.
  • Deliver high-quality, efficient and patient-centred services.
  • Lead service improvement, transformation and redesign initiatives.
  • Ensure delivery of financial, workforce, quality and operational performance targets.
  • Develop strong partnerships with clinicians, corporate teams and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee governance, risk management, patient experience and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary management teams, fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.
  • Support business planning, commissioning, contracting and service development activities.
  • Drive the use of data, digital innovation and evidence-based decision-making to improve outcomes.
