Global Accounting Network is working with a leading Professional Services business that is looking to appoint an Interim Head of Commercial & Compliance for an initial 3–6 month contract.
This is a highly hands-on role, sitting closely with the senior leadership team and taking ownership of the review, approval and negotiation of commercial contracts across the business.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at pace, managing multiple priorities and providing pragmatic commercial and contractual advice to stakeholders across Sales, Delivery, Finance and Operations.
The Role
- Review, negotiate and approve customer contracts, with a particular focus on Statements of Work (SOWs), MSAs and contractual terms.
- Review approximately 5–15 SOWs per week, ensuring commercial and contractual risks are identified and appropriately mitigated.
- Advise on both Time & Materials and fixed-price/milestone-based contracts, with a strong understanding of the different commercial risks associated with each.
- Ensure robust payment terms, appropriate liability provisions and suitable protections are incorporated into agreements.
- Lead commercial approval and governance processes for new and existing business.
- Negotiate directly with clients and suppliers, providing pragmatic solutions whilst protecting the interests of the business.
- Review and interpret contractual obligations and advise internal stakeholders on commercial and legal implications.
- Own and maintain contractual templates, agreements and associated documentation.
- Act as a senior escalation point for commercial and compliance queries.
- Support due diligence, audits and wider commercial/legal information requests.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to identify, manage and report on key commercial and contractual risks.

About You
You'll ideally have:
- Strong experience in commercial contract review, negotiation and approval within a Professional Services, Technology, Consulting or similar environment.
- Proven experience working across both Time & Materials and fixed-price contracts.
- A strong understanding of contractual risk, liability, payment terms and commercial protections.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating MSAs, SOWs and client terms & conditions.
- Ideally, experience working with Crown Commercial, G Cloud, DOS or other government frameworks.
- A strong appreciation of technology and an openness to using AI-enabled tools to support contract and risk review.
- The ability to operate independently and hit the ground running in an interim environment.
- A pragmatic, agile and commercially minded approach, with the ability to balance risk management with the need to support the business.
