Interim Director of Data | Global Retail Brand |
London, Onsite | Immediate Start
6 month Inside IR35
We’re supporting a leading global retail brand with the appointment of an Interim Director of Data to take ownership of a significant enterprise data transformation.
This is a senior leadership mandate for somebody who has previously stepped into a complex, fragmented data environment, brought structure and accountability to the function, and led the transformation of platforms, engineering, governance, and operating model.
The organisation has a substantial physical retail footprint, so we are particularly interested in leaders who genuinely understand the complexity of brick-and-mortar retail including customer, product, merchandising, inventory, supply chain, digital, and store operations.
The core data platform is Databricks, alongside a wider BI and legacy technology estate. The successful person will need enough technical depth to confidently challenge architects and engineering teams, while remaining focused on the broader transformation of the function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
